Beekeeper Jorg supplies Demeter-certified German acacia honey, produced according to biodynamic principles in Märkisch-Oderland in Brandenburg, east of Berlin. Since its founding in 2016, the apiary has been a member of the Demeter Association. In early 2021, the business moved to its new location in Müncheberg/Eggersdorf, at Hof Apfeltraum.
The beekeeping operation was founded out of a deep passion for bees and the desire to develop a biodynamic farm focused on producing exceptionally high-quality food. Within this vision, the bee itself takes center stage. Each bee colony—consisting of worker bees, drones, and a queen—is viewed as a single, complete organism whose natural balance must be maintained.
Jorg’s goal is to enhance the bees’ vitality by intervening as little as possible and allowing them to live as naturally as possible. Unlike intensive forms of beekeeping, yields are not maximized; instead, the well-being of the bee colonies is the top priority. For example, the bees take care of raising their own queens, build their combs naturally, and are able to reproduce through their swarming instinct. In addition, a portion of the honey is always left in the hive to help the bees survive the winter.
This respectful and natural approach forms the foundation of Demeter beekeeping and results in pure, high-quality honey that preserves the bees’ natural vitality.
